The South Plains Tennis Association is a nonprofit, volunteer organization which exists for the purpose of encouraging and promoting the sport of tennis among the cities and communities of the area in and around Lubbock, Texas. 
      
 
The Board of Directors is elected by the membership and meets on the 1st Monday of each month, with the exception of those times that the first Monday is a holiday (New Year's, July 4th, Labor Day).  In that case, the board meets on the 2nd Monday.  Guests are always welcome (see Board Meetings in main menu for times and location).  The Board of Directors welcomes comments and suggestions from the entire tennis community.  Send comments and suggestions via CONTACT US on the menu. 

           
  
The SPTA sponsors sanctioned tournaments for juniors three times each year:  the HWY 80 (Champs) in June, a summer ZAT in July and a fall ZAT in September.  The Dub Rushing Memorial Open for adults and juniors is held the last weekend in June in the memory of longtime tennis player, tennis fan and tennis supporter 'Dub' Rushing.  The SPTA also co-sponsors, with the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department and the Burgess Rushing Tennis Center, the annual Toys for Tots Scramble to assist the Marine Reserves provide toys for needy children at Christmas.  Other projects include support of Adaptive Tennis summer camps and serving as the local delivery system for USTA Adult Leagues.
